About Gangurams

In the 1880s, Ganguram Chaurasia moved from a village in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, to Kolkata. He was a skilled Halwai who made delicious sweets and worked at Mr. Raja's shop, supplying sweets to the Rajbari. Raja, impressed by his service, gave him a small plot of land near Maniktola in north Kolkata, where he started a sweet shop in 1885. During the 19th-century Bengal Renaissance, Gangurams became a cherished part of Bengali culture.

Currently, they operate across India in more than thirty outlets through their stores, franchises, shop-in-shop models, and counters. The Desi Food brings their delicious Bengali sweets to your doorstep globally. We source directly from them, ensuring the product authenticity, and deliver it to you fresh, on-time.
